OFFSHORE CHEMIST

TEAM are working alongside our major Oil and Gas client in sourcing an OFFSHORE CHEMIST for a 28/28 rotational position based in Dubai, UAE.

FULL DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a range o laboratory services aimed at ensuring process and product quality in the assigned production field. They will also be responsible for maintaining Laboratory equipment calibration in accordance to International Standards. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor the performance of oil process plants through sampling and conducting a range of laboratory tests to ensure that sale crude quality and Over Board Water Quality (OBWQ) are within the Clients specifications. 
  • Support troubleshooting activity through his expertise and appraise the offshore team and the line manager with findings, ideas, and suggestions;
  • Carries out the sampling and analysis of crude oil in storage tanks by Centrifuge and Karl Fischer methods and as per ASTM. 
  • Collect and analyse produced water samples from the water treatment units to ensure that Overboard Water Quality (OBWQ) within the Clients specifications.
  • Collect pipeline oil samples, analyse emulsion content, and track chemical treatment evolution trend.
  • Provide support to the offshore and onshore team as when it is requested. 
  • Liaise with the offshore production chemist to maintain the laboratory consumables and reagents required to  conduct the laboratory tests. 
  • Carry out the required calibration of laboratory testing equipment and maintain all laboratory equipment at optimum operational levels.
  • Ensures that all activities in the laboratory are carried out in accordance with the Client’s safety policies and procedures.  Ensures all safety rules and regulations are fully explained to Company employees including the safe handling and use of chemicals and disposal; that appropriate safety and protective equipment is ordered and stocked in the work unit; that safety notices are prominently displayed in all work areas.
  • Control stocking and reordering of all laboratory supplies and chemicals, ensuring the correct safety and handling of chemicals.
  • Carry out QA / QC of process chemicals and liaise with Chemical Management as and when required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 4 years’ experience in oil or gas processing industry, including basic crude and water analysis techniques. 
  • Good knowledge of oilfield production chemicals applications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry from an internationally recognised university.
  • Valid BOSIET.
  • Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness for Offshore Work.
