Petroleum Laboratory Technician – (F6846)
Description
Job Purpose
Carries out a wide range of physical, medium complexity, routine and non-routine testing activities in a safe, timely fashion to provide accurate data for effective process control and finished product blending and certification purposes.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Progresses testing of routine and non-routine samples submitted by the Refinery process units to provide data for process control and product blending and certification.
- Progresses testing of TSD “D” Samples to assure the optimization of the Refinery process units.
- Uses the laboratory information system to receive samples, review sample load, and enter test results to progress test reporting efficiently and make data available, to ensure that the Laboratory’s customers receive their data on time.
- Maintains required Laboratory test data books and other records to ensure compliance with Laboratory’s Quality System requirements.
- Check equipment to ensure fit for purpose before use, reports any missing or faulty equipment to the Shift Supervisor for remedial action to ensure continued capability to provide required test data.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Diploma in Chemistry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a petroleum laboratory.
- Good knowledge and understanding of petroleum testing and using standard testing methodology .
- Good level of English.
- Clear and legible record keeping.
- Conversant with Laboratory safety practices and have a particular cognizance of the potential hazards inherent in the handling of chemical solutions and petroleum products.
- Familiar with IT software packages and LIMS
