Job description

Canada Fuels Operations is responsible for the distribution of refined products through its coast-to-coast terminal and pipeline network. This position will be for the Hay River Distribution Terminal located in the Northwest Territories. This terminal is supplied by rail cars and is used to load both trucks and barges to distribute product. Your main responsibility as a Terminal Operator will be the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the asset. Some of your other responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting all business in a professional and ethical manner, communicating in a clear and timely fashion and providing accurate information and records.
  • Maintaining effective, reliable and efficient operation while ensuring all work is done safely according to the Imperial’s policies.
  • Overseeing and supporting fuel truck drivers and contractors on site.
  • Completing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly site managerial tasks.
  • Complete calibration, proving, testing and general equipment maintenance.
  • Inspecting, repairing, and maintaining terminal equipment, this includes loading rack hardware, pumps, valves, tanks and piping.
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures; evaluating asset investments to improve reliability.
  • Executing project and maintenance activities at the site, this includes working with Imperial’s engineering teams to develop and execute site projects.
  • Interface with Imperial’s Safety, Product Quality and Audit teams to assess and improve facility performance.
  • Working with Imperial’s product supply teams to ensure high product availability.
  • Identifying and implementing operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and participate in site emergency response activities.
  • Be involved in an on-call rotation schedule with other members of the terminal staff.

 

Qualifications
Academic:

  • Latest/highest education.
  • Instrumentation/Electrical or Millwright certificates will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) will be considered an asset.
Other:
  • Relocation to Hay River, NWT is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required for this position.
  • This position is designated as Safety Sensitive under the company’s Alcohol & Drug policy and will require successful pre-employment certification process.
  • Knowledge and experience in terminal / pipeline operations, maintenance and problem solving, and customer service are considered assets for the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Experience and knowledge in work permitting and energy isolation / lockout / tag-out processes.
  • Knowledge of basic instrumentation for measurement of level, temperature, density, flow, etc. is an asset.

Eligibility to work in Canada

Proof of eligibility must be current and valid (not expired, cancelled or voided). Proof of eligibility will be required if an offer of employment is made. Failure to provide proof of eligibility at least six (6) weeks prior to the start date may result in the offer of employment being rescinded.
